Though the Panthers grand final win feels like just yesterday, the 2023 season is now upon us — which means it’s time for fans to put their money where their mouth is.

As the hype builds ahead of the season opener between the Eels and Storm, fans begin debating who will take out the title, what team will end up with the dreaded spoon and which player will wow fans with their tryscoring feats.

For any fan that likes to have a flutter, it’s a chance to find some serious betting value, from team to individual player markets.

The most popular market remains the overall , with BetRight CEO Anthony Waller highlighting value over favouritism.

‘Panthers are still premiership favorites for the three-peat at $4, though they have been drifting of late, with some season ending injuries and their recent loss to St Helens,’ he said.

Can the Panthers go back-to-back-to-back? Odds say yes, but the better value might lay elsewhere after a slow preseason

Of course they will be there or thereabouts. Even if key injuries strike Penrith, there are plenty of capable youngsters to step straight into the void — even with a bit of a player exodus from last year’s grand final.

They have a monstrous forward pack, an incredible spine (even with Api Koroisau’s departure) and are obviously as well-drilled as team in the competition given many have played together since junior footy.

But something doesn’t feel quite right — and while premierships are not won in preseason, they’ve been anything but impressive against in the World Cup Challenge loss to Saints.$4 doesn’t present much value.

All the talk has been about the astonishing additions the Roosters keep making, despite already having a star-studded roster captained by James Tedesco.

They desperately needed an injection in the forward pack — which they got — and with a little more luck in the injury department after a few shocking years, they look much better value — though that is fast disappearing!

‘The best team backed to win the 2023 premiership has been the Sydney Roosters who opened at $8 and are now $6,’ said Waller, who explained how well found Trent Robinson’s men have been in the market.

The Sharks, marshalled superbly by the reigning Dally M Medal Nicho Hynes present decent value at $13, despite lacking starpower in the forward pack.

They had a disappointing exit from the finals last year, but what Craig Fitzgibbon has done in such a short time is nothing short of extraordinary — and he will have his champion team (rather than a team of champions) humming along.

When one team wins, another must lose (unless they are lucky enough to get all the way through golden point and tie!) and the most losses market is as spicy as ever, with plenty of value for punters.

Of course, competition newbies the Dolphins are the favourites ($2.60) in the market — but there are a fair few teams that will struggling this year and Wayne Bennett already looks like he’s done plenty of good things up at Redcliffe.

It’s the Dragons where things are looking particularly grim.

Under-fire Anthony Griffin doesn’t appear to have a galvanised squad — one that is already quite weak and lacking depth to begin with — after a slew of off-field dramas that started with no one turning up to the club’s presentation night.

There’s been a drunken brawl after a preseason game and multiple police investigations, and it has certainly piqued the interest of punters.

‘Whilst the premiership debutants the Dolphins head the at $2.60, there has been steady recent support for the Dragons to win the spoon due to their poor trial form, off field dramas and coach under pressure,’ explained Waller.

‘Plenty of Bet Right punters have been snapping up the $21 on offer for the Dolphins to have a winless season.’

Even the Warriors ($8) could be down the wrong end of the ladder despite finally being able to return home, after being based in Australia for Covid and away from family and Daftar Situs slot online gacor terpercaya dan terbaru friends.

They are brilliant at best, but can be very sloppy when it comes to errors and discipline — and if injuries strike key men, it could spell trouble.

Individual markets always present a much more tantilising prospect for punters hungry for value — with even the most confident of favourites only one injury away from crashing out.

Waller said there was some brilliant value to be found in the market, which favourite Alex Johnston ($5) won last year — with the preseason throwing up some surprise candidates.

‘With some Panthers injuries, Sunia Turuva has been recently well found in the market at $17,’ he said.

‘Will Warbrick ($26) is an Australian Rugby 7s star that has joined the Melbourne Storm and mail is that he has secured a wing spot on the back of his try scoring performances in the Storms recent trials.

‘Alofiana Khan Pereira from the Gold Coast Titans has also been specked at $51 by some smart Bet Right punters,’ said Waller of what is likely the best value market punters can find.

Manly are a tough nut to crack when it comes to betting prospects, but the erstwhile Reuben Garrick keeps flying under the radar, and improved play we’ve seen from them in preparation for the season makes $26 seem juicy. He just needs Tom Trbojevic ($19) to stay healthy to raining tries out on the wing!

Don’t mind the look of boom youngsters Selwyn Cobbo ($23), Joseph Suaalii ($17) and Murray Tualagi ($21) for a bit of a spec, either.

Finally, the most curious market and hardest to pick is the .

It will surprise exactly no one to see Panther superstar Nathan Cleary ($4.50) lead the market, but if Mitchell Moses ($21) can continue his rise as one of the competition’s best halves and clutch kickers, he might be worth a small flutter.

The aforementioned Garrick ($9), who won the gong two seasons ago, is as polished as it gets when it comes to goalkicking and finishing, but Waller said there is one surprise contender who has been sensationally crunched in betting.

‘Whilst Panthers super star Nathan Cleary is favourite to be the top points scorer in 2023 there has been strong support for Nick Meaney ($26 into $9) on the back of Ryan Papenhuyzen’s injury,’ he said.

In a year that promises to be as close as ever, head to
