08.03.2023A mother was stabbed to death at her £1million home as ‘s murder toll hit 60 today after yet another bloody night on the capital’s streets.
Samantha Clarke, 38, was killed in days after celebrating her son Joshua’s 14th birthday and she died on a night that saw two fatal attacks in London within 36 minutes.
The hotel assistant general manager, who worked at a former coaching inn in Henley, had been spending time off with her family when she was attacked at 6.30pm on Sunday.
A suspect was pictured being led away in handcuffs after being arrested on suspicion of murder and was held at the three-storey Victorian property in South London where Mrs Clarke died.

Yesterday her husband Paul said: ‘She was a loving mum.Everything she did was for her son.
‘She just wanted to spend as much time with him as possible.’
Last night police were quizzing a 24-year-old man, named locally as Jordan Clarke, who is thought to be Mrs Clarke’s nephew.Neighbours told of their shock yesterday.
One said: ‘They are a lovely family who have lived here for a long time. We’ve no idea what happened. We’re in absolute shock.’
Last night a teenager was stabbed to death in east London bringing the capital’s death toll this year up to 60.
The victim, who is believed to be 18, was found bleeding in Chestnut Avenue, close to Forest Gate station and Wanstead Flats common.
The Metropolitan Police were called after the fatally injured man was found at around 10.50pm last night.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and no arrests have been made.
Video footage from the scene appears to show several police cars and officers behind a cordon. One Twitter user claimed an officer told him there was blood ‘all over the road’

London’s violent crisis is continuing unabated and last night’s murder is the 60th in the capital since January 1 with two people murdered in just 30 minutes on Saturday night.
In March London’s murder rate exceeded New York’s in a single month for the first time.
Mrs Clarke’s murder, which was the 59th this year, happened on a night of violence with three stabbings in the capital.

Just 36 minutes earlier, a young father was killed less than ten miles away.

The 26-year-old Romanian decorator died in hospital.A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The victim’s mother, Eva Chiriac, was visiting relatives in Romania when she was informed of the attack.
She told the London Evening Standard that her son had become a father four months ago.’Raul was so excited to have a son and wanted the best for his new baby,’ she said.
Later on the same evening an 18-year-old man was seriously injured in a knife attack near Alexandra Palace shortly after 9.20pm.
The surge in stabbings comes as police are battling a knife crime epidemic, with murder levels for February and March exceeding the number of killings on the streets of New York.

The use of a blanket stop and search power in suspected violent areas of London has increased fourfold in the last year due to the wave.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said the force had carried out a considerably increased amount of stop and searches using section 60 orders since she took over a year ago.
The power, which allows officers to search anybody within a defined area where police believe there is a risk of violence, has been used 106 times in London in the last year, up from 23 in the previous 12 months.
Home Secretary Amber Rudd came under fire earlier this month for presiding over cuts to police officer numbers — but she insisted it played no part in London murder wave.
The Home Secretary unveiled a strategy which demands social media companies do more to crack down on videos glorifying violence.
But critics have said police numbers have fallen under her and Theresa May’s watch — leaving forces unable to cope with the rising tide of violence
